“At its heart, good design is about people and how we choose to inhabit this world.”
Jed believes in an explicitly collaborative approach to design; working closely not only with other design team members, but engaging quickly and mindfully with clients, consultants and communities. He takes as much pride in his ability to facilitate this sort of communication as he does in his ability to teach others about the importance of good design and its impact on society as a whole. This is reflected in his continuing work as an educator, highlighted by four years of faculty experience at The Pennsylvania State University.
Jed grew up close to nature and had a rural upbringing that shaped the way he sees the world. His work celebrates the beauty of natural materials and their imperfect qualities; ones which make each piece of a building unique. Each project is an opportunity to learn while fulfilling the clients’ dreams in a sustainable and respectful manner.
When not pursing design solutions for clients, Jed is seeking design challanges in his own life. Whether it is slowly remodeling a 100 year old house, building saunas, or planning for a year spent living in a yurt, he loves to spend time in the outdoors and make things with his hands He realizes that these experiences make him a better designer.
Jed recently discover a love of curling and is now pursuing the olympic dream he thought had passed him by.
