Wagner Zaun Architecture

Located in Duluth’s Ramsey neighborhood with convenient access to public transportation, shopping and restaurants, this project was at once an ideal location for Veteran’s Housing and an opportunity to add to other recent successes for this transitional neighborhood.

This one time corner grocery store and turn of the century apartment building had for many years been in a state of neglect and deterioration until it was purchased by a local affordable housing developer.  The Northern Communities Land Trust teamed with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veteran’s to develop a new mixed used housing and office complex.

The two buildings and adjacent property were completely remodeled into 14 units of transitional and permanent housing for Homeless Veteran’s and the regional offices for MAC-V.  A vacant lot between the two buildings was converted into parking and a green space that includes a Gazebo and a tribute wall for Veteran’s.
