Three bedroom home with detached garage/woodshop. 1800 finished square feet. Designed for the 5th generation to inhabit this 65-acre farmstead, the design uses familiar rural forms and details with attention to overall durability and energy efficiency in materials and assemblies. A very high performance approach to passive solar design and superior envelope thermal performance, using similar methods employed in the Skyline House, led to a very low energy heating load. Robust materials and systems are meant to ensure sustainability, comfort and energy security. Construction completion 2009.
