HTK came to us to help them shape and finalize the design for their new office space. The growing healthcare marketing firm was moving out of a 100 year old east Duluth mansion and into the top floor of a historic, turn-of-the-century warehouse building in the Canal Park district. The new location provides them with views of Lake Superior and the Harbor from three sides of the office as well as easy access to Lake Superior and the dining and retail offerings in the area.

The open plan design maximizes lake views for everyone in the office and promotes informal interactions that support their collaborative and creative work processes. The original construction of the space was retained. Existing brick walls were cleaned, wood floors re-finished, and the wood ceiling framing was exposed, sanded and finished. The turn-of-the-century shell of the space became the backdrop for the introduction of new contemporary work and gathering spaces. This approach references HTK’s 50 year history, its former 100 year old home, and its new direction and future.
